“But I Don’t Feel Like Working Out” -lots of people

Do you ever feel unmotivated to workout? This is a very normal experience that most people have. Even as a trainer and someone who truly is passionate about exercise, I can’t say that I am always excited for my workout. So how do we find the motivation to workout most days of the week?

The key is: you don’t. You can’t expect to wait for motivation to show up in order to exercise. What I mean by this is if you don’t feel motivated at the moment to workout, do it anyway! We typically don’t regret our workout once we’ve started and taking the action of actually getting moving as opposed to waiting for the feeling of wanting to workout is what’s important.

Bottom line: take action (start your workout) and then see if the motivation shows up (it usually does in the form of feeling good).

This applies to other areas in our life too. Don’t feel motivated to find a new job? Send out one resume. Don’t feel motivated to eat healthy? Start cooking something that you know has healthy ingredients. The thing is, we can’t always wait around for the feeling; we have to create the feeling. And this is often done through taking one small step in the direction we want to head in. After being in a year and a half of a pandemic it’s okay if your motivation levels feel low - mine do too sometimes! But that doesn’t mean we can’t take action.

If you need help doing this specifically in areas related to wellness, I am your girl!

XO,
KK
